Kasha and Sauteed Swiss Chard and Pierogies

Kasha

  • 1 onion >$1
  • 2 ribs of celery >$1
  • 4 cloves of garlic >$1
  • 1 cup of Kasha >$1
  • 1 1/3 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of red wine
  • 2 tbsps of soy sauce

Total – $1.50
Cut up onion,celery,garlic and saute in oil. Add Kasha and saute for about a minute. Then add water cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add red wine, soy sauce and any other ingredients. Cook on low heat for at least 10 minutes for water to absorb.

Saute Swiss Chard Seperately 1 bunch of swiss chard $2

Pierroges – $3.19 for a bag (we used 3 each) = about $1.50 for this meal

Total For Meal – $5 ( 2 portions) plus leftover kasha
